Welcome to Ruff Country Kennel!
Open East Hants Day - Sat May 25, 11 to 3 -
Our first Open House was great fun and real success; we thank all our 'friends both old & new' who dropped by to celebrate our 25th Anniversary with us,
especially the four-footed
kind. The day was made
perfect with the arrival
of eight new Labrador
puppies too, a mix of
yellow & black!
Ruff Country Kennel
is centrally located in picturesque Nova Scotia, Canada. We're just a half hour drive from the Robert L. Stanfield International Airport and about 30 min from the hub-town of Truro. Our country property meanders along the beautiful Shubenacadie River.
Once a working farm owned by the Rose family in historic Douglas Township (today's East Hants County), Ruff Country today provides the ideal location for a kennel. Plenty of fresh air to romp in and nature all around to watch, winding forest paths and waterways for exercise & training ensure the 'old farm' enjoys an extended life well into the modern age. Farm dogs were some of the very earliest working partners of people as human civilization evolved, and we think there's no better place than a farm for healthy, happy canines.
We maintain garden
beds at the entrance
off Highway 102, and
grow a significant
portion of our produce
out in the field past the
barn, currently using
as a 'greener' way to
crop. The Country Life
is reflected in the care and health of our own dogs and our visitors as well.

Boarding - We've been providing quality care for our boarding clients for over 20 years. Our boarding facility is a small, family-run establishment with 17 boarding kennels. Each dog has his/her own kennel and all dogs are exercised four times per day, in a large fenced-in area.
Breeding - Ruff Country is a quality breeder of Labrador Retrievers & German Short Haired Pointers; watch our Facebook page for
2019 marks our 25 year
in the dog business, and
we are proud to deliver
quality, caring services.
We only breed our
females once per year
each. And only 4 times
in their lifetime.
At six years of age they
are spayed and they go
to new fur-ever homes, to enjoy well earned retirement.
During their time with us they enjoy daily exercise in the great outdoors including swimming in our ponds, so they are healthiest mothers they can be! Watch our Facebook page for litter announcements...
